At Recharge, International Women’s Day means celebrating the power, bravery, and courage of women throughout history and the long road they have travelled. Today is a day for us to remember the pain and struggle of generations gone by and to look towards the future where women truly have equal rights and opportunities in all spheres of life. By continuing to raise our voices, advocate for change, and support one another, we can build a world where women are truly free to pursue their dreams and achieve their full potential.

This year, the theme of International Womens Day, embracing equity, means ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, race, age, or anything else, has access to the same rights and opportunities. It’s about supporting one another, celebrating our differences, and treating everyone equally. It’s about seeing that we are different but giving women a fair chance to be able to show what they are made of and treating everyone equally.

As we reflect on this and our personal experiences as women in a male-dominated industry, we think of the advice we would give to our younger selves:

“You’re allowed to take up space. Keep going. You’re doing great, and you are capable of things you are not aware of yet, but you will get to where you’re going many times.”

Today is also a great day to acknowledge our role models. For some of us, this might be our mothers – who have done so much on their own for a long time now. Others might get inspiration from the other different women working at Recharge. Our role models show us that we can achieve our goals, and they inspire us to push ourselves beyond our limits.

They demonstrate that hard work, determination, and perseverance can lead to success, no matter the obstacles. Through their stories and experiences, they also provide us with valuable advice and guidance, helping us navigate our careers and personal lives with greater confidence and purpose. We believe that by celebrating and learning from our role models, we can create a culture of empowerment and support and pave the way for future generations of women to succeed.

For many of us, we strive to be role models for the next generation of women in tech and to inspire them to pursue their passion and excel in their careers. We believe there should be more women in all industries, not just tech. However, the tech industry is still very male-dominated, and we believe that the industry is missing out on the perspectives and talents of women.

By encouraging more women to enter the industry and supporting their growth and development, we can build a stronger, more innovative, and more inclusive tech community. After all, women are great teachers and should be encouraged to share their knowledge.

For sharing their stories a special thanks goes out to; Parisa Broukhiyan, Dene Nel, Priscila Borges, Harshi Rangarajan, Jenna Quandt, Akoli Edonga, Nahid Etesami, Nadira Kuswaya, Isinsu Savas, Camila Monteiro Yadee Fränkel, Maria Clara Goldani & Bing Zhang.
